Filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally has reacted to the criticism by some that Varisu has a heavy TV serial hangover. Varisu director reacts to reports on Thunivu collecting better than Vjay’s film

Filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally is buoyed by the success of his latest release Varisu. He met the media in Chennai on Monday and responded to some reports that claim Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu is performing better than Varisu at the box office in Tamil Nadu. Vamshi said that both the films are doing well and that’s what the industry needs. Kuttey box office office: Film earns less than Varisu (Hindi) on first weekend | Bollywood

Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s directorial debut Kuttey failed to make a dent on its first weekend. The multi-starrer featuring Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sensharma, Radhika Madan, Shardul Bhardwaj and Kumud Mishra, only earned ₹3.35 crore nett. The first weekend collections were less than Varisu’s Hindi version which made ₹3.80 crore nett. The Tamil film stars Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna.
