‘Verify before sharing’: Delhi HC rebukes Richa Chadha in IndiGo case

The Delhi High Court has strongly criticised actor Richa Chadha and several media platforms for what it termed “digital vigilantism” in connection with a sexual harassment allegation on an IndiGo flight. The case stems from a March 11 Delhi Mumbai flight incident, where a female journalist accused a co-passenger of inappropriate conduct. Soon after landing, she shared the allegations on social media, revealing the man’s identity, photograph, and workplace details. The post quickly went viral and was amplified by multiple media outlets and public figures, including Chadha. Delhi HC slams Richa Chadha The court took serious note of how the allegations were circulated without verification. Pulling up Chadha for reposting the claim with the remark “Make him famous,” the bench observed, “The endorsement and amplification of an unverified allegation… acts as a catalyst for public shaming and digital vigilantism.” The court emphasised that public figures carry responsibility when sharing sensitive claims. It stated that such actions go beyond free speech and can damage an individual’s reputation without due process. “A public figure bears a legal …

Cardiovascular research scientist suggests setting the treadmill ‘at 10-12% incline’ and ‘walk 2-4 mph’ for 30-60 minutes, 3 days per week for fat loss; we verify | Fitness News

3 min readNew DelhiFeb 4, 2026 02:58 PM IST When it comes to fat loss, most people think of running or high-intensity workouts. But James DiNicolantonio, a cardiovascular research scientist, has suggested that walking with the right settings might be one of the most effective, sustainable ways to shed fat.  Instead of sprinting on the treadmill, the key may lie in adjusting the incline and speed for steady, controlled movement that engages the right muscle groups and burns more calories. According to the doctor’s advice, setting the treadmill “at 10-12% incline” and walking at “2-4 mph” for 30-60 minutes, three times per week, can help accelerate fat loss.  Walking at an incline increases the intensity of the workout, but it is also a more accessible option for many people. However, how effective this approach is, and who should be trying it, depends on several factors such as fitness levels, age, and any underlying health conditions. To better understand whether this fat loss method is as effective as it sounds, we asked an expert to share …

Uttar Pradesh draft roll out: EC power to verify citizenship flows from Constitution, poll panel tells Supreme Court | Legal News

Asserting its right to verify citizenship status for the purpose of inclusion or exclusion from the electoral rolls, the Election Commission of India told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that the power flows “directly from the Constitution” and “The Citizenship Act, 1955, and the Foreigners Act, 1946, do not detract from the power of the ECI with respect to assessment of citizenship”. “It is evident that from its inception, the Constituent Assembly intended that authorities responsible for preparation of electoral rolls would enquire into citizenship and exclude those who were not citizens… the ECI was vested with plenary powers with respect to superintendence, direction and control over all elections, as well as the power to verify the status of citizenship under Article 324 read with Article 326,” said Senior Advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, who appeared for the poll panel. The EC cited a resolution moved by Jawaharlal Nehru in the Constituent Assembly on January 8, 1949, which, it said, “required… authorities concerned for preparation of electoral roll to ensure, inter alia, that no person shall be included… …
