Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Saturday appointed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief C Joseph Vijay as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. The swearing-in ceremony of the Vijay-led ministry will be held on Sunday at 10 am at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai, news agency PTI reported. The actor-turned-politician was appointed after he called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan and submitted letters of unconditional support from Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), who have two Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) each. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Saturday received the support of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi’s (VCK) two legislators and inched closer to forming a coalition government in Tamil Nadu, news agency ANI reported. VCK President Thol Thirumavalavan gave an official confirmation letter to Aadhav Arjuna, TVK General Secretary- Election Campaign Management, and extended the party’s support to the Vijay-headed party to form a government in the state. VCK’s unconditional support has paved the way for the formation of a TVK-led government in the state. Vijay is expected to meet Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar with all letters of support his party has received.
