Congress to settle N.M. Vijayan’s debts

Congress to settle N.M. Vijayan’s debts

The Congress leadership has decided to resolve issues related to mounting debts of deceased party functionary N.M. Vijayan. After Vijayan’s family members were reportedly denied permission to meet Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday (May 4), they told the media that party leaders who had earlier offered all support to them had not done anything more than releasing a sum of ₹10 lakh. As treasurer of the Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC), he was allegedly forced to heed demands from some party leaders in the district and to be part of an alleged job scam. Vijayan’s debts reportedly amounted to over ₹2.5 crore, and the family claimed that they had raised the issue with senior Congress leaders, but to no avail. Wayanad DCC president N.D. Appachan, one of the accused in the case, had said on Sunday that the party would settle some of the debts, especially those …

The court also found the complaint free of any defects. The complaint would be assigned a number before notice is served to the respondents. The respondents can challenge the maintainability of the SFIO complaint before the court. The SFIO had reportedly alleged that Ms. Veena and her now-defunct IT firm Exalogic Solutions had received “fraudulent payments” to the tune of ₹72.7 crore from CMRL. The SFIO had listed Sasidharan Kartha, managing director of CMRL, Exalogic, and Empower India Capital Investments Private Limited as the other respondents in the final complaint. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had the other day approached the …
