The order dated March 10 stated, “A report on how Ranya managed to bypass security checks at the airport, how she availed and misused privileges reserved for top officials, and whether there is any role of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation MD Ramachandra Rao has been asked to be submitted within a week.” Top police officers, Karnataka secretaries, the Department of Personnel, and Administrative Reforms have been instructed to provide all necessary documents and assistance to the authorities concerned for the inquiry. Supreme Court refuses to take up plea against ‘VIP darshan’ in temples | India News

The Supreme Court Friday observed orally that no special treatment should be given to anyone in the matter of entry to temples, but declined to act on a plea seeking an end to “VIP darshan” facilities in temples. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and S C Sharma, however, said the authorities concerned were free to take any action they deem appropriate. “While we may be of the opinion that no special treatment be given with regard to entry to temples, we do not think it is a fit case to exercise jurisdiction under Article 32. We clarify that dismissal of the petition will not in any way bar the appropriate authorities from taking action as they require,” said the court. Thirty people died and more than 60 people were injured.  36 of those injured are undergoing treatment in hospital. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who had been toiling hard for the last several months to make the Maha Kumbh a grand success, appeared before media with his eyes full of tears. Police and health workers acted promptly, called in ambulances and created a green corridor to take those injured to the hospital. The tragedy is indeed saddening. New Delhi: The Congress has blamed “half-baked preparations and “focus on self-publicity” for the stampede at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. While Congress leaders have said several people died in the stampede, the state government has not confirmed any deaths yet. Leader of the Opposition, Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said the news from Prayaraj is heart-rending. “Poor management and prioritising VIP movement over ordinary pilgrims is responsible for this tragic incident,” he said, adding that the government should make proper arrangements to prevent a recurrence of such an incident. “VIP culture should be checked and better arrangements must be made for the pilgrims,” Mr Gandhi said.
