Swara Bhasker recently received a lot of hate on social media for praising a Pakistani designer, who created her Walima outfit and sent it all the way from Lahore to India. This has not deterred the actor from speaking her mind and talking more about the lehenga she wore for the reception held by her husband Fahad Ahmad in Bareilly. On Thursday, Swara used the hashtag #CantStopWontStop while singing praise for the lehenga and said that she was “obsessed” with it. Of all the places, you decided to come [to Bareilly],” Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker rightly exclaims, as we greet her at the wedding reception podium, shamelessly jumping the line of about a thousand attendees clicking pictures with her, and husband, Fahad Ahmad.  The couple got officially married on January 6, in a civil ceremony, at the court registrar’s office. Ever since, Fahad’s best buddy Arish tells us, the parties haven’t stopped — with the final, 10-day sprint in New Delhi, March 10, onwards — nights of haldi, mehendi, qawwali, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, et al.  The walima (reception), in Islamic tradition, is the final function that follows the wedding/nikaah. Swara’s is in Bareilly, because that’s where Fahad’s family home is.  Although for his schooling, since a child, Fahad, the eldest one, has mostly lived away — in Aligarh, Himachal, and Mumbai, where he most recently completed his PhD at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, before formally pursuing a career in politics. Actor Swara Bhasker wore the jhumka in Bareilly—in what was her ‘walima’, traditional post-wedding reception, at her husband, activist-politician Fahad Ahmad’s hometown.  Although the venue, the majestic Grand Nirvana hotel-resort, off the main city, could be anywhere in the posh world.  Cops stationed outside the venue in Bareilly; (right) the couple from their March 16 Delhi reception The ‘veeres’ at this wedding do were mostly young Ahmad’s incredibly warm, intimate friends and family; a big crowd, nonetheless—sending their final cheer to a 10-day long feast, that’d captivated Delhi thus far, with mehndi, qawwali, Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi… The security cordon at the Uttar Pradesh venue certainly matched the profile of the event.
