Weather updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday (February 6) said that a western disturbance currently positioned over North Pakistan and its associated trough has led to a significant temperature drop across North India. The system is gradually moving eastward, impacting weather patterns in the region.  Speaking on the development, an IMD scientist, Soma Roy said, “A western disturbance, which is still over North Pakistan and its associated trough is also around the seventy-one seventy-two. This trough is slowly moving eastward. As soon as you are moving, like yesterday there was a lot of rain and rain and your clouds were enough, so after leaving this morning, the temperature has fallen drastically in the whole of North West India. According to the meteorological department, the well-marked low-pressure area over the Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal is likely to move west-southwestwards which will bring light to heavy rainfall in southern India. Rainfall in these states In coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Rayalseema, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at few places is predicted on Tuesday. Moreover, isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema may witness even heavy rainfall during the day. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is very likely over coastal Odisha with the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places on Tuesday. Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued several weather warnings for the week, with a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and East Equatorial Indian Ocean expected to trigger heavy rainfall and foggy conditions across different regions. According to the IMD, Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from November 25-27, with isolated heavy downpours forecasted for November 28. The low-pressure system, currently influenced by upper air circulation, is projected to intensify into a depression over the central South Bay of Bengal around November 25. As it moves closer to the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coast, Chennai is expected to witness heavy rain on November 27 and 28. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued an orange alert for delta districts and nearby areas, including Chennai, from November 25-28. However, heavy rainfall in several pockets of the country will continue during the week. In line with that, the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall alerts in several regions on Monday. The rain predictions come amid the intensification of the low-pressure area into a depression in the Bay of Bengal.  On late Tuesday night, the depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards. The depression will most likely cross the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts early on the morning of October 17.
