3 min readJun 24, 2026 02:42 PM IST Israel and Lebanon are holding discussions involving a US-backed pilot project which could see the Israeli forces handing over the control of some of the territory in southern Lebanon, that the IDF had captured during its war with Hezbollah, to the Lebanese Armed Forces, news agency Reuters cited three Israeli officials as saying. The officials said that the Lebanese troops involved will be trained and vetted by the United States to ensure they are not linked to Iran-backed Hezbollah, while Israel will keep a military presence in a border buffer zone. The proposed “pilot” project is being discussed and is in the latest rounds of talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials, which began in Washington on Tuesday. Is Obsession getting more shows impacting Main Vaapas Aaunga, Bandar and other Hindi releases? Trade experts weigh in

The success of the Hollywood horror film Obsession has become a case study in world cinema, but in India, it has had an adverse effect on Hindi films. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently called out how theatre chains have been giving more shows to Obsession over Hindi releases, including his film Bandar and films releases the past Friday – Main Vaapas Aaunga, Governor and others. Obsession is running with more shows than new Hindi releases like Main Vaapas Aaunga We spoke to trade experts on how this move impacts Hindi film industry and the business at the box office, and the consensus is that it boils down to what the audience wants. Trade analyst Komal Nahta says, “Nothing is coming in the industry except bad content. If Anurag Kashyap thinks it is because of Obsession that Bandar is not doing well, he should see the collections. Bandar is not doing well even otherwise, so the number of shows isn’t going to make a difference. Critical acclaim is not the same as the box office, and when …

Former cricketers weigh on CSK leadership

4 min readApr 4, 2026 09:54 AM IST Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership has come under scrutiny at the Chennai Super Kings, with the team losing back-to-back matches at the start of their IPL 2026 campaign. While former CSK cricketers like S Badrinath have openly criticised his tactics, other pundits feel the presence of new recruit Sanju Samson will challenge Gaikwad’s security as a leader. Despite scoring 209 in their first home game of the season against the Punjab Kings, CSK suffered a crushing defeat, which compounded Gaikwad’s woes as captain. With Samson emerging as the preferred choice to succeed the legendary MS Dhoni as CSK’s next favoured wicket-keeper and high-profile persona, Gaikwad will feel the heat on himself, according to former New Zealand pacer and commentator, Simon Doull. In a chat with former England captain Michael Vaughan, Doull was asked if Samson’s presence would affect Gaikwad. ‘Absolutely threatened’ “What about the captain, Gaikwad? Do you think he feels threatened [by Samson]?” Vaughan asked Doull on Cricbuzz. “Absolutely,” replied Doull. Vaughan observed that it is inevitable that …

OPEC+ to weigh bigger increase in crude oil supply after Iran attacks by US, Israel| Business News

OPEC+ will consider the option to increase crude oil supply when key members meet Sunday after the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran, according to two delegates. A family sits against the backdrop of a dockyard off coast city of Fujairah, in the Strait of Hormuz in the northern Emirate on 25 February 2026. (AFP) The group led by Saudi Arabia and Russia was expected to resume modest hikes in April after a three-month supply freeze in an ongoing strategy to reclaim market share, several delegates said earlier this week. Their base-case was to raise by 137,000 barrels a day, in line with increments during the fourth quarter, three people said. A key factor in Sunday’s decision will be whether the shock US-Israel assault on the Islamic Republic results in a closure of the Persian Gulf’s critical Strait of Hormuz, said another. The delegates asked not to be identified as the deliberations are private. The Iran attacks, and Tehran’s retaliation against American military bases in the region, mark the culmination of a geopolitical …

‘We need to weigh our words carefully,’ says Manoj Muntashir amid AR Rahman’s ‘communal bias’ remark | Bollywood News

AR Rahman made headlines after he claimed there was a “communal” bias in the Hindi film industry, which he said had impacted the amount of work he received. After several celebrities shared their views on the matter — with many disagreeing with the Oscar-winning composer — lyricist Manoj Muntashir has now stated that public figures must be mindful of the impact of their words. In an interview with India Today, Manoj, who has himself often been at the receiving end of online trolling for his statements, said, “There is one thing common between water and speech (paani and vaani). If they cross their limits, the result is the same — destruction. When you speak as a public figure and many people listen to you — I am also talking about Mithoon and others — it becomes our collective responsibility. When we say anything in the public domain, we must think a hundred times. We must ask ourselves whether our words could impact the social fabric of this country and whether they could send out a …

Tom Moody & Harbhajan Singh weigh in

On a day when batting maestro Virat Kohli made a blockbuster return to the limited-overs domestic cricket with a century, playing for Delhi against Andhra during the opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match on Wednesday in Bengaluru, former cricketers Harbhajan Singh, Tom Moody and AB de Villiers looked back at Kohli’s stint as a captain of the Indian national team. Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody stated that Kohli’s captaincy tenure began with high expectations, but the results were rather underwhelming. “The Virat Kohli era was an era of high expectation, but ultimately, disappointment,” Moody, who was also the head coach when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to win the IPL in 2016, said on JioHotstar’s Rise of Champions. Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said that Team India could have won three to four ICC trophies, but underachieved under Virat Kohli. “The kind of team Virat had, they could have won three or four trophies. Nahi jeete kuch to karan honge, but I still feel like unke paas acchi team …

Brand SRK: Advertising gurus weigh in on why Shah Rukh Khan has been as successful a brand ambassador as a movie star | Bollywood News

Before Shah Rukh Khan went full throttle looking for love (read: Koi na koi chahiye pyaar karne wala) in his 1992 big-screen debut Deewana, he had already entered our homes and hearts with intimate television shows like Fauji and Circus on DD National. If watching him as Abhimanyu Rai and Shekharan Rai respectively wasn’t enough, we also relished quick glimpses of him in blink-and-miss commercials in between. Back in 1998, we saw a 24-year-old Shah Rukh adjusted his headband and gave a hat tip to Sylvester Stallone’s ultimate underdog Rocky Balboa as Survivor’s  definitive sports anthem “Eye of the Tiger” set the tone to his sprint. But before bolting into his victory lap, Shah Rukh pulled out his Liberty shoes from under the bed. At that point, when he leaps and lands on his feet, we couldn’t help but laud the shoes, not knowing then that it was always the man. Story continues below this ad Since we wanted to know more, we reached out to Dr Udit Kapoor, consultant, Metro Hospital, Faridabad who disagreed and stated a hanging or a protruding belly is due to lifestyle factors, and require a combination of exercises targeting the core, a healthy diet, and overall cardiovascular activity for reduction.
