Actor Madhuri Dixit left her fans shocked when she backed away from the film industry at the peak of her career, after marrying Los Angeles-based cardiovascular surgeon Dr Sriram Nene in 1999. Madhuri would eventually return to Mumbai to restart her acting career, and Dr Nene would follow in 2011.
