Welfare schemes and achievements must reach the people, says Uttar Pradesh Information Director

Uttar Pradesh Information Director Vishal Singh on Friday (August 14, 2026) said preparations are underway to present the achievements of the Yogi Adityanath government and the changes taking place in Uttar Pradesh from the perspective of the younger generation. The Information and Public Relations Department’s monthly magazine, Uttar Pradesh Sandesh, will be published in English alongside Hindi, while efforts will also be made to make it available online in a youth-friendly format. Addressing the event, Mr. Singh said, “The future belongs to Generation Z and young people. Therefore, there is a need to view government schemes, achievements and the transformation of the state from their perspective and communicate this information to them effectively.” Authors who contributed outstanding articles to the April-May and June-July editions of the department’s Hindi monthly magazine Uttar Pradesh Sandesh, which focuses on the achievements of the State government, were honoured at the ceremony. Workshop to draft action plans for welfare of SHGs begins in Kochi

A southern-level workshop as part of the National Supportive Supervision Framework (NSSF) under the Ministry of Rural Development to nurture cluster-level federations began here on Wednesday. The event was part of drafting new action plans to ensure the social and financial welfare of self-help groups and members of neighbourhood groups. Jui Bhattacharya, national mission manager for the National Mission Management Unit, inaugurated the workshop. The aim is to make each cluster-level federation financially self-sustaining by 2047, she was quoted as saying in a release issued here. Representatives from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep shared their suggestions and participated in group discussions on the occasion. An action plan to suit the requirements of each State will be prepared after taking into consideration various factors like human resources, financial sustainability, and benefits for the members, according to the release. He questioned why access to rations, other government schemes be contingent upon a person’s name being on the voter list when Aadhaar-based verification already exists. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the government has distributed more than ₹65,887 crore under the NTR Bharosa pension programme since July 2024, and nearly ₹32,000 crore is being spent annually on pensions alone. In June, ₹2,729 crore has been allocated for the disbursement of pensions to 62.34 lakh beneficiaries. Minister for Labour Bindu Krishna has said that the State government will strengthen various labour welfare boards through scientific studies to enhance the well-being of workers across the State. The Minister was speaking at the State-level inauguration of the distribution of free educational supplies for children of workers registered under the Kerala Motor Transport Workers’ Welfare Fund Board.
