The all-rounder travelled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a third AC train coach after the final because flights were not available in the early morning; he chose the train to travel. “There was no flight available, so I decided to take a train from Ahmedabad early in the morning to Mumbai. We could have gone by road, but the train was faster,” said Dube. Dube boarded an early morning train with his wife and a friend. They booked seats in the 3AC coach as he wanted to return home quickly to meet his children – four-year-old son Ayaan and two-year-old daughter Mehwish. “Me, my wife and a friend decided to take a train. 3rd AC tickets were available, so we decided to book them. The Allahabad High Court noted that the trial court neither examined the material nor framed a specific issue on the allegation of adultery. (Representative image) The Allahabad High Court has directed a trial court to allow a husband to place certain WhatsApp chats on record to oppose his wife’s plea for maintenance on the ground of alleged adultery. While hearing a petition filed by the husband, Justice Madan Pal Singh noted that the trial court had refused to accept the chats solely because the husband had not submitted a certificate under Section 65-B of the Indian Evidence Act, which is ordinarily required for the admissibility of electronic evidence, Bar&Bench reported. However, the High Court said that Section 14 of the Family Courts Act empowers family courts to receive any evidence that may assist in effectively resolving a dispute, regardless of whether such evidence is otherwise admissible under …

Court grants bail to Maharashtra minister’s aide in wife’s suicide abetment case

A court in Mumbai on Monday granted bail to Anant Garje, the personal assistant to Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde, who was arrested in connection with the alleged abetment of the suicide of his wife last November, news agency PTI reported. The bail was allowed by Additional Sessions Judge Rupali Pawar, though a detailed reasoned order is yet to be made available. In his plea, Garje argued that the case against him was “based merely on suspicion and assumptions without any substantive facts” and asserted that he was “absolutely innocent” and falsely implicated. Police had opposed the bail, stating that the accused caused physical and mental distress to his wife, 28-year-old wife Dr Gauri Palve, who tragically died by suicide in her Worli flat in Mumbai on November 22, 2025. The incident reportedly followed a domestic dispute, occurring about nine months after their marriage, PTI reported. ‘Earning only Rs 10,000′: Why Karnataka HC slashed a wife’s maintenance to help a man pay for his daughter’s MCA and parents’ care | Legal News

3 min readBengaluruFeb 3, 2026 05:24 PM IST The Karnataka High Court recently partially allowed a petition filed by a man and modified a trial court order, reducing the maintenance amount payable to his estranged wife from Rs 4,000 to Rs 2,500. It considered the man’s monthly income, his daughter’s educational needs, and his aged parents’ care. A single-judge bench of Justice Dr Chillakur Sumalatha in the order dated January 20 said, “This court is of the view that when the husband has got no such means to maintain and is overburdened, the wife cannot claim that she is required to be maintained by husband whatever be the circumstances in which he is placed.” The husband challenged the order dated November 19, 2024, of a family court and contended that the amount granted is exorbitant. He mentioned that he is earning only Rs 10,000 per month. From this amount, he has to support his daughter, who is pursuing Master of Computer Applications (MCA), he said. He is obligated to pay her tuition fees and cover …
