Microsoft Testing New AI Features in MS Paint, Snipping Tool and Notepad

Microsoft is testing several new artificial intelligence (AI) features for first-party apps in Windows 11. On Thursday, the Redmond-based tech giant announced that it is releasing a new update to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels. The update is only for those with a Copilot+ PC. The update includes new features for MS Paint, the Snipping Tool, and the Notepad. Paint is getting a new sticker generator tool and an option to select individual elements in an image, while the company is making it easier to capture screenshots using the Snipping Tool. New AI Features Are Coming to Windows Apps In a blog post, the Windows maker announced multiple new AI features which are currently being tested by the company with Windows Insiders. There is no word on when these will be generally available, but considering past trends, they can be rolled out widely later this year. Two new AI features are being added to MS Paint. First is a new Sticker Generator button that joins existing AI features in Paint, such as …

Microsoft 365 Apps to Receive Security Updates on Windows 10 Until 2028

Microsoft 365 Apps to Receive Security Updates on Windows 10 Until 2028

Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 will continue to receive updates after the company drops support for the older version of its desktop operating system. The Redmond-based tech giant recently updated its support page to announce that the Microsoft 365 apps (also known as Office apps) will continue to get security updates on Windows 10 until 2028. The company made a U-turn on its previous decision to drop support for these apps on the older OS version after October 14. Microsoft has been aggressively pushing businesses and individuals to upgrade to Windows 11. This is likely because the Copilot suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features is only available on the latest version of Windows. Microsoft Decides to Keep Updating Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows 10 In its updated support article, the tech giant now says, “Microsoft will continue providing security updates for Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows 10 for three years after Windows 10 reaches end of support.” These will be available via the company’s standard update channels, and end on October 10, 2028. The …

Is Microsoft’s Update a Feature or a Bug?

Is Microsoft’s Update a Feature or a Bug?

Microsoft’s March security update became the latest and perhaps most shocking mistake in a string of installation bugs plaguing users of the company’s Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems. Despite promoting 2025 as “the year of the PC refresh” and heavily marketing its Copilot+ PCs as “the fastest, most intelligent and most secure Windows PCs ever built,” Microsoft’s latest update accidentally removes the Copilot app from some devices. Whoops. “We’re aware of an issue with the Microsoft Copilot app affecting some devices,” Microsoft noted on its support page. “The app is unintentionally uninstalled and unpinned from the taskbar.” The company clarified that this problem doesn’t affect the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. The March update affects Windows 11 users as well as some Windows 10 installations — even those with an earlier Copilot update. According to Windows Latest, the move is something of a headscratcher given the high publicity push to add Copilot to every PC. While Microsoft works on a resolution, it’s suggesting that affected users simply reinstall the app from the Microsoft Store …

How to Add Fingerprint Authentication to Your Windows 11 Computer

If you’ve recently purchased or received a Windows 11 computer, one of the first things I recommend you do is to add fingerprint authentication as one of your sign-in options. This provides your computer or laptop with an additional layer of security and makes the login process much faster than a regular password. While Windows machines can vary in how fingerprint authentication is implemented, setting up fingerprint logins is more or less consistent across all computers running Windows 11. In this article, I will show you how to add fingerprint authentication to your Windows 11 computer, answer some frequently asked questions, and provide a few benefits of fingerprint unlock for your machine. How to Connect Windows to Linux Samba Shares Easily

How to Connect Windows to Linux Samba Shares Easily

When Windows 10 was released, it seemingly broke the ability to easily connect to Linux Samba shares. It appeared one could not write to a Linux share from Windows 10. Considering how many businesses rely on Samba to share folders, this was a bad move on Microsoft’s part. Fortunately, the ability to connect to Samba shares wasn’t actually removed from the Windows platform; it was merely tucked a bit out of sight. I want to walk you through the process of making that connection between Windows 10/11 and your Linux shares. For this tutorial, I will assume you have both Windows 10 or 11 installed on a machine (or multiple machines) and a Samba share at the ready from your data center. With that said: Let’s connect.
