The police suspect that the preference for a son could be behind the killings. The incident took place at Prem Chand Park area on Wednesday morning and first responders were in shock when they witnessed the horrific sight, where 27-year-old Anita and her daughters, aged three, four and five years, were lying in a pool of blood. Dr Sameer Hashmi, a 28-year-old doctor, was riding his motorcycle back home when an invisible killer struck. A Chinese manjha — razor-sharp kite string banned across the state — snapped around his neck. Within seconds, it sliced deep into his throat, cutting up to the neck bone. By the time passersby realised what had happened, Dr Hashmi had collapsed face-first on the road, bleeding profusely and unable even to remove his helmet.
