Four teams, 4 plans, 1 result: How France keep winning at this FIFA World Cup | Football News

4 min readJul 11, 2026 06:00 AM IST France’s clash against Morocco was billed as the game of the quarterfinals. One that put a congregation of attacking talent that the French have pieced together against Morocco’s unending stamina. Instead, Boston, in its final game of the World Cup, witnessed yet another canter by the French to the finish line. It has been the story of this World Cup – different teams attempting their own spin in solving the French puzzle – each has failed at varying degrees. Senegal show glimpses The only sustained period of trouble that the French have faced in the tournament so far has been the first half of their opener against Senegal. The defending African Cup of Nations champions were incredibly organised and keen on physically imposing themselves on the French front four. Scientifically Speaking: Do early winners become winning adults?

Scientifically Speaking: Do early winners become winning adults?

Do children who perform best early in life later become adults who reach the highest levels? A paper in Science last December poses a question that more of us should ask. According to the paper, the answer, across several fields, is usually no. Early success may not guarantee lifelong achievement, a new study finds, raising questions about India’s obsession with toppers, rankings and early specialization. (Unsplash) The paper, by Arne Güllich, Michael Barth, David Hambrick, and Brooke Macnamara, reviews evidence on the development of world-class performers. The authors pulled together 19 datasets covering 34,839 adult international top performers, including Nobel laureates in the sciences, Olympic champions, leading classical composers, and top chess players. They compared this evidence with 66 studies of young performers and adults below the very top. Among young people, early performance, intense practice, and focused training often predict better performance later in childhood or adolescence. This is what most of us would expect. That’s why there are so many elite schools, youth academies, gifted programs, and coaching centres. The idea is that …

‘When you win one World Cup, you are addicted to winning and want another one’

‘When you win one World Cup, you are addicted to winning and want another one’

India’s hero of the 50-over ICC World Cup title Jemimah Rodrigues has said that after having won one title, the feeling can get addictive. Now India wants another, and the opportunity arrived at the T20 extravaganza in England. Jemi was quick to issue a disclaimer when speaking on Jiostar’s ‘Jazbaa Jeet Ka’, saying, ‘addiction’ may sound like a negative word, but the 50-over ODI triumph had them tasting blood. “What has happened with that World Cup win is that it has empowered us to be motivated to do even better,” she said. “When you win one, and it may sound like a negative word, is almost like an addiction, you want to win another one. It pushes you even more.” India are nowhere near favourites at the England showpiece, but slot in nicely as dark horse, with the November 2nd triumph ensuring they are not longer taken lightly. Still, T20s call for alterations. “As a batter, it is just a shift in mindset. In T20 cricket, compared to other formats, you have to take calculated …

Her upcoming release, Bharat Bhagyaa Vidhata, is gearing up for a box office clash with Diljit Dosanjh’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh. What makes the clash particularly intriguing is the long-standing public feud between Kangana and Diljit, which dates back to their highly-publicised social media spat during the 2020 Farmers’ Protest. However, despite the history between the two stars, neither film appears to be generating significant pre-release buzz. According to trade experts, both films will rely heavily on audience reception and word-of-mouth rather than star power or advance bookings. Speaking to SCREEN, Akkshay Rathi, Director of Ashirwad Theatres Pvt Ltd, said, “Main Vaapas Aaunga and Bharat Bhagyaa Vidhata are films that have the ability to grow from strength to strength due to word of mouth. Neither of the two is designed to be a front-loaded opener or entertainer. Both these films, …
