Delhi Debacle: Can Kejriwal Ever Recover From This Wipeout?

Delhi Debacle: Can Kejriwal Ever Recover From This Wipeout?

Many may be tempted to write the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) obituary today, but that may be both hasty and tragic. The AAP’s defeat in Delhi is basically a journey from Dreamland to Crashland. Much before the results were out, I had argued that this was the most opportune time for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win in Delhi. The results of the Delhi assembly elections are shocking for both AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, but it’s they who must take the blame for the rout, and gracefully accept their mistakes.  Kejriwal had emerged on the national scene as a radical revolutionary who promised to change the politics of the country. Instead, it was politics that changed Kejriwal. Twelve years in power turned him into yet another politician who lost all his moral lustre and charisma. Nothing could be more tragic than the defeat of Kejriwal from his own seat, the New Delhi constituency. It’s a lesson for all politicians who think they are bigger than the party and the collective wisdom of the people.  …

Jasprit Bumrah’s advice to Team India after 150-run wipeout on Day 1: ‘Have faith in yourselves’ | Cricket News

India vs Australia: On Monday Jasprit Bumrah’s India defeated Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth by 295 runs. However, things were not looking as rosy on day one with the pitch having grass on it and the skipper opted to bat. The side could not cope with the seam moment on the surface and Australian bowlers too hit their mark right from ball one to bundle out India for 150 runs. At the time it did seem like Bumrah’s batting first call was firing back. However, what transpired thereafter was remarkable. The Indian skipper with his five-wicket haul bowled Australia out cheaply for 104 runs. “You know, I played here in 2018. I remembered that when you start here the wicket is generally soft but as the game progresses it becomes easier. This wicket was a little bit spicy from the last one I played here but we were well prepared,” said Bumrah after the match about the decision at the toss. “I told the players to have faith in yourselves and also trust …

After bypoll wipeout, BJP stares at a tough road ahead in Punjab | Political Pulse News

Despite little resistance from protesting farmer unions and being able to campaign in villages of their constituencies unlike the Lok Sabha elections, and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) not in the picture, the BJP in Punjab put up a poor show in the four Assembly bypolls on Saturday, highlighting the need for an overhaul in the coming months. “The road ahead is challenging for us and we really need to work hard if we want to make an impact in the 2027 Assembly polls,” a BJP leader said, requesting anonymity. BJP candidates in Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, and Chabbewal forfeited their deposits while in Barnala the party came third and it’s nominee was able to save the deposit. This comes months after the the party registered a blank in the Lok Sabha polls despite an increased vote share of 18.5%, almost double from the 2019 parliamentary polls in which it won two of the state’s 13 Lok Sabha seats. As the Lok Sabha debacle triggered calls from within the party urging it to be aggressive …
