The U23 Asian Championships are scheduled to take place in Da Nang, Vietnam from May 22 to 26, while the Asian Games trials are set to begin just days later on May 30 and 31. In a circular released on May 7, the federation said the Indian squads had already been finalised and all required formalities, including registration with United World Wrestling (UWW), visa processing and related documentation, had been completed. As a result, the WFI stated that replacements at this stage would not be possible. With the withdrawal of Akane Yamaguchi, World Junior Championships silver medallist Tanvi, who was the second reserve, gets the chance to make her mark. Also getting promoted were doubles national champions Ashwini Bhat K and Shikha Gautam in women’s doubles. World champion and men’s singles world No 1 Shi Yuqi pulled out of the tournament after he had to retire in Sunday’s Malaysia Open 2026 final against Kunlavut Vitidsarn. While Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty will be up against each other as per the original draw, Tharun will face Kidambi Srikanth in the opening round. India Open 2025: Srikanth Kidambi gets a late entry after withdrawals, Sindhu and Lakshya’s opponents changed due to redraw | Badminton News

Former world No 1 Kidambi Srikanth and Kiran George were added to the men’s singles draw of India Open 2025 following the late withdrawal of top seed Shi Yuqi of China and eighth seed Anthony Ginting of Indonesia. This also means that the men’s and women’s singles draws were updated, as according to the new BWF rules withdrawal of seeded players will result in a shuffling of the pack to ensure there are no lopsided quarters. In the updated draw, 2022 champion Lakshya Sen will now take Ginting’s place and will face Lin Chun Yi of Chinese Taipei in the opening round. Srikanth will take on China’s Hong Yang Weng while Kiran George will open his campaign against Yushi Tanaka of Japan. The last Super 750 level event that Srikanth played on the tour was in May 2024 at the Singapore Open. Form and fitness concerns have seen his rank drop to No 41 in the world, meaning he doesn’t get automatic entries to the top events anymore. But for the elegant shuttler, this late …

Harry Kane says he is disappointed by the high number of withdrawals from the England squad this week, insisting the national team must come first. The Euro 2024 runners-up head to Greece for Thursday’s must-win Nations League match before a Wembley meeting with Ireland on Sunday. But interim boss Lee Carsley’s final camp, before the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as the new manager, has been hit by an eye-watering eight pull-outs. The situation has frustrated Kane, who will lead the side out at the Olympic Stadium in Athens knowing key players are absent for a match they must win to stand a chance of automatic promotion. Asked if there was one thing former manager Gareth Southgate put in place that senior players need to ensure is not lost, the striker told ITV: “I think the joy to play for England. On a per day basis, the ATM withdrawal has been capped at $45 (roughly Rs. 3,710) in the African nation. Nigeria has become one of the first nations in the world to roll-out its CBDC in full force. Nations like China and India are still testing their respective national digital currencies. Nigeria is looking to add the advance tech twist to its existing financial systems. Along with promoting the use of eNaira, the government is also pushing for people to use online payments and mobile banking. “Customers should be encouraged to use alternative channels (Internet banking, mobile banking apps, cards, eNaira, etc.) to conduct their banking transactions,” the Nigerian government said in an official statement. Built on the blockchain technology, CBDCs work like cryptocurrencies, but unlike the largely untraceable and independent crypto transactions, CBDCs are …
