US pundit goes on obnoxious rant against Socceroos and Oz wiz Irankunda

5 min readJun 14, 2026 07:54 PM IST Neither team is top-tier in this sport, and has their own versions of football. But the Seattle FIFA WC game on Saturday between Australia and hosts USA will be on a fever pitch, after a CBS TV pundit denigrated the Socceroos and launched a bizarre tirade on eventual goal scorer Nestory Irankunda. Mike Grella had no other reason to get into an obnoxious rant on a pre-match show on CBS, except that he had never heard of any Australian players’ names. Previewing the Turkiye game, Grella would condescend, “I think their best player is Irankunda…uhh umm Irankunda…I mean Irankunda,” he would start mispronouncing the name making a smugly face. He would continue: “With all due respect because I don’t like to talk bad about players …We actually called the Championships at CBS…But, Irankunda…” he would continue with an unsavoury, completely unprovoked tone. And taking the piss out of Nestory Irankunda. All this US media talk is tiresome, but next week’s Seattle showdown between the USMNT and Socceroos …

BUCHAREST, Romania — A Romanian court on Thursday rejected an appeal by American rapper Wiz Khalifa to annul his nine-month jail sentence handed down for drug possession in the Eastern European country. Romanian court rejects Wiz Khalifa’s appeal against 9-month jail sentence for drug possession The Constanta Court of Appeal’s decision came after Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, filed an appeal last month against the December conviction. The sentence came after Khalifa was stopped by Romanian police in July 2024 after allegedly smoking cannabis on stage at the Beach, Please! Festival in Constanta County. Prosecutors said the rapper was found in possession of more than 18 grams of cannabis, and that he consumed some on stage. The court convicted Khalifa of “possession of dangerous drugs, without right, for personal consumption.” The appeals court on Thursday rejected as inadmissible Khalifa’s appeal to annul the sentence, and ruled as unfounded a request to suspend the sentence. The Associated Press contacted Khalifa’s representatives via email to request a comment on the latest legal developments, but …

We Can’t Believe Wiz Khalifa Is a Flat Earther; Rapper Doubles Down on His Beliefs: ‘It’s Not Possible…’

Wiz Khalifa, the famous rapper, has sparked controversy after publicly admitting that he believes the Earth is flat. The artist made his views clear during two podcast appearances this week. The conversation began on The Joe Budden Podcast and continued on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, where Khalifa doubled down on his belief. During his appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, Khalifa said his belief is based on personal experience rather than scientific evidence. “When I travel, the routes that we take and how we do it, it’s not possible to go up and down. You’re just going straight,” he said. Wiz Khalifa shared that this was the main reason he believes in a flat Earth. He also suggested that the Earth could be part of a larger, unexplored landmass, drawing a connection to the idea of Pangaea. Khalifa’s skepticism doesn’t end with the shape of the Earth. What is Wiz and why is Google acquiring it for $32 billion? | Technology News

Google on Tuesday, March 19, announced that it has agreed to buy cloud cybersecurity startup Wiz for $32 billion in an all-cash transaction, making it one of the biggest acquisition deals ever inked by the tech giant. The Alphabet-owned company’s last big buy was cybersecurity company Mandiant, which came with a $5.4 billion price tag. Wiz will reportedly be folded into Google’s cloud services division, which is not as dominant as its core Search business. Google’s planned purchase of Wiz is a revival of its failed acquisition bid last year, except that this time, the company is willing to shell out almost $10 billion more than its previous offer. Story continues below this ad Wiz had rejected a $23 billion bid from Google in July 2024, amid antitrust concerns and regulatory challenges in the US. Instead, the company’s co-founders had decided that Wiz would remain independent and pursue an IPO. The resurrected deal is expected to be finalised by 2026 subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Why does the acquisition matter? Google’s acquisition …

Google Acquires Startup Wiz for $32B to ‘Turbocharge Improved Cloud Security’

Image: Wiz Google has announced it is acquiring cybersecurity startup Wiz for $32 billion. The acquisition is parent company Alphabet’s largest to date, more than doubling its previous record-breaking $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility in 2012. The company appears to have pursued this deal aggressively due to the growing demand for secure cloud services. The surge in generative AI has prompted tech companies to rush for cloud infrastructure, while major security incidents, such as last year’s CrowdStrike outage, have heightened concerns. Wiz’s software incorporates AI-powered security features that identify critical risks in cloud infrastructure, allowing developers to remediate them before they become an issue. If Wiz’s products are integrated, Google Cloud could gain a significant advantage in a market where it has historically fallen behind Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. In Google’s announcement about the acquisition, it said Wiz will provide its customers with improved and lower-cost security for multiple cloud and code environments. Despite the acquisition, Wiz’s products will continue to work and be available across all major clouds, including Amazon Web …
