She also got good support from Amelia Kerr, who picked two wickets, while Nat and Shabnim Ismail were also among the wickets as they sealed MI’s place in playing the summit clash against DC at the same venue on Saturday. Chasing 148 to win, DC prevailed with nine wickets in hand and 4.5 overs to spare, consolidating their position at the top of the WPL points table with 10 points from seven games, including five wins and two losses. Delhi Capitals had, in fact, handed a similar thrashing to Mumbai Indians here on Friday. RCB, on the other hand, slipped to fourth position with only two wins so far in six matches. Skipper Meg Lanning struck 69 off 49 balls as Delhi Capitals produced a solid batting effort to beat UP Warriorz by seven wickets and register their second win in the Women’s Premier League in Vadodara on Wednesday. Sent into bat, UP Warriorz rode on opener Kiran Navgire’s quick-fire half-century to post 166 for seven. But the total was not enough as besides Lanning, Annabel Sutherland played a crucial 35-ball 41-run knock and was ably supported by Marizanne Kapp (19 not off 17) and opener Shafali Verma (16 off 16). Delhi completed the chase with a ball to spare. DC were off to a brisk start with Shafali and Lanning sharing 65 runs in just 41 balls for the opening stand. Gujarat Giants Eye WPL 2025 Comeback vs UP Warriorz After Loss To RCB

Gujarat Giants Eye WPL 2025 Comeback vs UP Warriorz After Loss To RCB

Gujarat Giants will hope their bowlers complement the batters and fielding shows overall improvement after a crushing defeat in the Women’s Premier League season opener, when they take on the UP Warriorz here on Sunday. Gujarat Giants produced a unified batting show to set a commanding 202-run target against the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru but their bowling frailties were exposed in the first game of the season itself when as many as six options also could not contain the opposition batters. Richa Ghosh was dropped on the first ball she faced and the India wicketkeeper-batter made GG pay a hefty price for the mistake, striking 64 off only 26 balls (7x4s, 4x6s) to quickly turn the tables. GG’ Tanuja Kanwar had also spilled Ellyse Perry’s catch when she was batting on two. The Australian great too made the most of the reprieve as she hit a 34-ball 57 to anchor RCB’s record chase. Gujarat Giants had earlier produced a fine batting show with fifties from former skipper Beth Mooney (56) and incumbent …

Coming in to bat with RCB requiring around 12 runs an over, Richa smashed four sixes and seven boundaries to take the reigning champions home. Richa’s knock saw fans compare her to Dhoni, widely regarded as one of the greatest finishers in white-ball cricket. “Richa Ghosh just did a Dhoni… for RCB,” posted one user on X. “Richa Ghosh is the mirror image of MS Dhoni,” said another fan. “Richa’s WPL stats read 36/145 …

In the third edition of the tournament, RCB will play Gujarat Giants in the opening match here on Friday. “Captaincy is one thing which at any moment you can think that you know it all, cricket teaches you a lot of things which you think you knew it but everyday is a new experience.
