“Criticised Virat Kohli In T20 World Cup Final”: Sanjay Manjrekar Faces Ire For Defending Harmanpreet Kaur And Co

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar praised captain Harmanpreet Kaur and the women’s team for putting up a brave fight against Australia in their T20 World Cup 2024 match in Sharjah on Sunday. The Indian women’s team suffered a heartbreaking loss to defending champions Australia, with the defeat all but confirming the Harmanpreet-led side’s exit from the tournament in the group stage. Harmanpreet scored an unbeaten fifty but her knock went in vain as the team failed to chase down 14 runs in the final over. As the defeat left the fans frustrated, Manjrekar took to social media and lauded Harmanpreet and her girls for giving Australia a tough run for their money. “No other team other than India would have come so close to the big target Aus set on a difficult pitch. I say, well done India! And again what a star Harman is!,” Manjrekar posted on X. No other team other than India would have come so close to the big target Aus set on a difficult pitch. I say, …

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Sophie Devine Says New Zealand Will Think About NRR In Final Group Game

Chasing a small target of 116 against Sri Lanka, New Zealand had a great opportunity to push their Net Run Rate to overtake India and move to second position in a tight Group A. Though New Zealand managed to win the match by eight wickets, they did that with only 15 balls to spare and are now placed third behind India on NRR with both teams having four points. New Zealand captain Sophie Devine said they did not think a lot about the NRR calculations during their chase. She said they will wait for how results play out in the next two days before thinking about NRR in their final group game. “We actually didn’t (think about it). We set targets at the innings break and it was to win the game in the 17-18th over. We obviously see how results play out tomorrow and by the Pakistan game, we will know exactly (what we need). We will celebrate tonight’s win but then go back to the drawing board (for our last match),” …

Bangladesh ‘Emotional’ After First Win In 10 Years At Women’s T20 World Cup

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty on Thursday described her team’s first victory in a Women’s T20 World Cup match for a decade as “very emotional” and suggested it would create “momentum” for the women’s game at home. Bangladesh secured a 16-run win over Scotland in their World Cup opener in Sharjah after posting what appeared to be a flimsy 119-7 in their 20 overs. Their bowling attack, however, tied the Scots down and restricted them to 103-7.  “I would say that a win after 10 years, we all are very emotional because we have been waiting for this victory for a long time,” said Joty who was playing in her 100th T20I. “No matter how good the cricket we play, if it doesn’t translate into victory, it means nothing. And I would say for women’s cricket, after a long time, I feel like we have done something.  “We have always said about Bangladesh that we have to create momentum and then we will move forward with that momentum. Now it seems like we are going to dream of …
