Yash calls Ramayana a ‘work-in-progress’, reacts to criticism around VFX in Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama teaser: ‘We’ll try to better it’ | Bollywood News

3 min readNew DelhiApr 16, 2026 02:48 PM IST When the makers of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana announced that DNEG, an Academy Award-winning British visual effects studio, would be working on the mythological epic, fans had huge expectations. However, after the movie’s teaser – introducing Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama character was dropped recently, it was met with disappointment. Fans called the clip’s VFX ‘video-game like’. And now, actor Yash, who is playing the role of Ravana in Ramayana, has reacted to the criticism, calling it a “work-in-progress.” He spoke about the criticism surrounding the film and its teaser on Muse TV’s YouTube channel. When the interviewer mentioned that the VFX in the teaser looked photorealistic, Yash replied, “See, that’s where I think DNEG comes in. (laughs) Namit, who is my producing partner, comes in with that expertise. So, the photorealistic visuals what you’re talking…and it’s still a work in progress. I’m sure it will be even more better with the finished product. We’re really aiming at a product which is topnotch.” The actor was also …

Competitive, calm but still a work-in-progress

Competitive, calm but still a work-in-progress

It’s not often that a player who was nearly dropped just a year back becomes the Test captain. It’s definitely not often that a player who was dropped from the playing XI midway during the last Test series that India played, just months back, becomes the captain. But here we are, due to the big-ticket retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli along with the selectors’ lack of confidence in the other captaincy candidates – Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant – that Shubman Gill, 24, has been anointed as India’s Test captain. In 2024 during the England home series, Gill, struggling with his form, almost lost his place in the Test side. But he bounced back strongly. Later he was on drinks duty for the Melbourne Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy this year in Australia. He got his place back only after captain Rohit decided to drop himself on a grassy-green Sydney track for the final Test of the series. It’s what he did in that Test that needs a rewind, but first …

Danish Aslam`s upcoming project with Imran Khan: `It’s still a work-in-progress`

Danish Aslam`s upcoming project with Imran Khan: `It’s still a work-in-progress`

Danish Aslam, who made his directorial debut with the rom-com, Break Ke Baad (2010), is surprised that Bollywood has steered away from the genre in the past decade. As an ardent fan of the genre, the director has attempted to tell a story of modern love with his latest release, Khwabon Ka Jhamela. “The [rom-com] genre that we had in the early 2000s, went away in the last 10 to 12 years. We left that zone of Hum Tum [2004], Salaam Namaste [2005], and went into heartland stories,” he reflects.  Danish Aslam Aslam believes the JioCinema offering, starring Prateik Babbar and Sayani Gupta, has the potential to fill that void. “I feel Khwabon Ka Jhamela is one of the films that fills that gap,” he says optimistically, before adding that filmmakers will always have something new to say with love stories. “Earlier, there were trunk calls, then phones, mobile phones, Internet, and now Tinder. The language of love changes every few years. Which is why the older rom-coms get dated and we need to update …

Debroy committee charted the Railways’ path towards viability and competitiveness, but most recommendation still work-in-progress | Business News

Debroy committee charted the Railways’ path towards viability and competitiveness, but most recommendation still work-in-progress | Business News

The landmark report of the 2015 expert committee on Railway Reforms, headed by the late economist Bibek Debroy, did clear the decks for a complete overhaul of the national transporter to achieve economic viability in operational terms and recover its loss of competitiveness in the transportation market. While some of the recommendations have been taken on board: including the phasing out of the separate Rail Budget, the redesignation of the Chairman of Railway Board as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a plan to accord more powers to General Managers (GMs) and Divisional General Managers (DRMs) to take decisions “independently”, the overarching recommendation on “liberalisation” of Indian Railways has not been taken on board yet. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, told The Indian Express that the government has taken the report seriously and implemented most of the important recommendations, especially the empowering of officers. The government also partially acted upon the recommendation for decentralisation to the division level of the mega organisation, the treatment of divisions as independent business …
