The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the cancellation of Class XII board examinations for students in several Middle East countries. The affected countries include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. All exams that were scheduled from March 16 to April 10, 2026, have now been cancelled. This decision also applies to exams that had been postponed earlier as per previous CBSE circulars dated March 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, 2026. Nithin For the first time since the formation of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Thiruvananthapuram region in 2014, its 11-year uninterrupted reign at the top of the region-wise Class XII rankings came to an end on Tuesday. Vijayawada that had been at Thiruvananthapuram’s heels last year broke the latter’s winning streak with a pass percentage of 99.6. It pipped Thiruvananthapuram to second place by a margin of 0.28 percentage points. The Thiruvananthapuram region had been dominating both Class X and XII CBSE results for over a decade. This time, though, it could not steal the show, though with a pass percentage of 99.32, it was comfortably ahead of Chennai (97.39%). The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) will declare Class XII examination results for Science and General streams, along with Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) examination results on Monday. The results will be declared on the board’s website at 10.30 am. As per the board’s announcement, candidates can also check their results on WhatsApp by sending their seat number to 6357300971.This year, 14,28,175 candidates registered for the Class X and Class XII (Science and General streams) board examinations. While a total of 8,92,882 registered for Class X exams,  4,23,909 candidates registered for Class XII General stream and 1,11,384 for Class XII Science stream. Also, 1,37,799 candidates registered for GUJCET. A slight decline was witnessed in the number of registered candidates for the Class XII exams. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that Class XII Hindi Core (302)/Hindi Elective (002) board exams will be conducted on March 15, 2025, despite the possibility of Holi celebrations extending to that day in some regions. While the exam will proceed as scheduled, students who face difficulties appearing on the given date will be allowed to take the test later, similar to provisions made for students participating in national and international sports events. CBSE emphasised its commitment to academic integrity and student welfare while ensuring smooth examination conduct. In a press release dated March 13, CBSC said, “CBSE has made a significant move by announcing the Date Sheet for Board Examinations three months in advance. ‘Best of two’ initiative expected to benefit over 2 lakh students of classes X, XII: Govt | Ahmedabad News

The ‘best of two exam’ initiative to “reduce the dropout ratio of students” is expected to benefit over 2.11 lakh students of Class X and XII, underlined the state government in Gujarat on Wednesday. “This decision of the state government will reduce the dropout ratio in the state. The students who have failed in the exams or could not get good results the first time for any reason will get a second golden chance through the ‘best of two exam’,” an official release issued by the state government Wednesday stated. In October, in a major relief to Class X and XII students, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) had issued the notification to allow all students the ‘best of two’ option across all streams. In 2023-24, the state education board had given the option of ‘best of two’ for only Class 12 Science stream students where they could improve their results by appearing in supplementary exams conducted in the month of June-July. English to be non-compulsory subject for Classes XI, XII as per draft curriculum

The State Council for Education, Research and Training (SCERT) of the Maharashtra government classified English as a foreign language and non-compulsory subject for Classes XI and XII in a draft curriculum, reported PTI. The SCERT has also sought suggestions from the stakeholders till June 3. According the curriculum currently followed, English is a compulsory subject for these two classes. The draft curriculum says that there would be eight subjects for Classes XI and XII — two languages, four elective subjects and two compulsory subjects. Out of two languages, one has to be chosen from a group of 17 Indian languages including Marathi, Sanskrit, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Sindhi, Bengali, Punjabi, Pali, Telugu, Ardhamagadhi, Maharashtri Prakrit, Avesta-Pahalvi. English has been included in the category of foreign languages along with German, French, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, Persian and Arabic. The second language could be from either the first or the second group. English, thus, would not be a compulsory language. School for visually impaired achieves 100% pass result in Class XII for sixth consecutive year

For the sixth consecutive year, the Government Higher Secondary School for Blind Girls at Puthur in Tiruchi has achieved 100% pass result in the State Board Class XII examination. The school, which is one among the three functioning in the State for the visually impaired, has excelled in the Class XII examination for the past six academic years. Eighteen students who had appeared for the exams had cleared them. Since it is a residential school, students from various parts of the State join the school. The school imparts quality education to students by training them to use computers, Braille and audio recorders provided by the government to learn the subject. At present, some of the students have gone to Chennai to attend a 15-day summer computer class. “After they return, the students are to attend the career guidance programme offered by the School Education Department.
