Yami Gautam says she screen tested for Kaabil, other contemporaries didn’t have to: ‘I stopped questioning, reasons didn’t make sense’ | Bollywood News

Yami Gautam is a familiar and respected face today. Known for leading films such as Uri: The Surgical Strike and Article 370, she is also the wife of Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar. However, her journey to this point was anything but easy. Yami entered the entertainment industry at just 20 years old. Before films, she spent several years working in television. In 2010, she made her big-screen debut with the Kannada film Ullasa Utsaha, but fame continued to elude her. It was in 2012 that she marked her Bollywood debut with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. While the film was both a critical and commercial success, it did not translate into immediate security for Yami. In fact, she found herself questioning whether she had a future in the industry at all. Speaking recently to Humans of Bombay, Yami opened up about this uncertain phase of her life. “Back then, things were much more challenging,” she said. “There were times when I would think, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work out,’ or ‘Should …

A day prior to the theatrical release of Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar, actor Yami Gautam, wife of the film’s director Aditya Dhar, urged her peers in the film industry to end the culture paid marketing tools to promote their movies. She said there’s a ‘growing trend’ of giving money to ensure good hype of a film.  Taking to her Instagram handle, Yami posted a long note about ‘extortion’ of money and how people who refuse to pay become targets of negative coverage, even before their film’s release. ‘Trend of giving money in the disguise of marketing’ “There is something I’ve been wanting to express since really long, I feel today is that day & I must. This so-called trend of giving money, in the disguise of marketing a film, to ensure good ‘hype’ for a film is created, or else ‘they’ will continuously write negative things (even before the film is released), until you pay ‘them’ money feels nothing but kind of extortion. Just because this arrangement is accessible to anyone- whether to ‘hype’ a …

Article 370 trailer: Yami Gautam-starrer political film is for The Kashmir Files audience. Watch | Bollywood News

Yami Gautam-starrer Article 370 dropped its trailer on Thursday. The film is based on the events that led to the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and while the trailer says that it is ‘inspired by true events’, the claim is debatable. Yami Gautam plays an intelligence officer in the film, who is seemingly going through a personal loss, and is then given a “free hand” as she is posted in Kashmir to lead a mission. The film is loud, violent and jingoistic, and looks like a follow-up to The Kashmir Files which released in 2022. The Kashmir Files was criticised for its propaganda-like content but emerged as a success at the box office. The film is being produced by Aditya Dhar, who previously directed Uri: The Surgical Strike and won a National Film Award for Best Director for the same. Article 370 is releasing just a few months before the 18th Lok Sabha elections and is clear in its messaging. “Poora ka Poora Kashmir, Bharat Desh ka hissa tha, hai aur …
