15 killed in Lucknow fire; UP govt promises strict action

Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna on Tuesday said strict action would be taken against those responsible for the Lucknow fire tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 15 people, asserting that the state government would not spare anyone found guilty, irrespective of their position. Speaking to ANI, Khanna expressed condolences to the families of the victims and said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had already issued directions for an inquiry into the incident. Massive fire broke out at a building housing a coaching centre in the Aliganj area of Lucknow on Monday. At least three people lost their lives, triggering panic among students and a massive rescue operation by emergency services, as per IANS. Several students were trapped inside the building as thick smoke spread through the premises. Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an intensive rescue effort to bring those trapped to safety. Meanwhile, the district is also gearing up to eradicate child labour from its urban areas.
