A day after it was reported that music composer AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen escaped with minor injuries after his car collided with a cab near Olympia Tech Park in Chennai, Ameen himself has offered more insight into the accident. The playback singer took to his Instagram Stories to explain what unfolded during the incident.

Ameen clarified that he was in the passenger seat of his friend’s car on the way to the airport when the accident happened. Sharing that everyone involved in the accident was safe, Ameen expressed gratitude to the Almighty for His grace and protection.

The playback singer also took the opportunity to thank his family, friends and well-wishers who reached out and checked on him. He expressed his gratitude for their love and for keeping him in their thoughts and prayers. “It truly means more to me than I can express,” Ameen posted.

Hoping that the best wishes, prayers and values of his grandmother, father Rahman and composer GV Prakash continue to guide and protect him, Ameen said he hopes to carry forward their teachings. He strives to live by everything they have instilled in him. “Thank you once again to everyone for all your love, care and support.”

Ameen’s sister, singer-composer Khatija Rahman, also clarified how the accident happened. In a statement posted on social media, which Ameen also reshared, Khatija thanked everyone who prayed for her brother and explained what had happened.

“Ameen was on his way to the airport, seated in the passenger seat, while his friend was driving. A driver in another vehicle ahead of them moved forward despite the signal being red, which resulted in a minor collision,” read her statement.

In conclusion, Khatija requested that those reporting the news verify the details with the family so as not to cause “unnecessary worry and distress.”
