Army Chief Gen Dwivedi shares light moment with Assam Regiment
Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday shared a light moment with the soldiers of the Assam Regiment after he participated in their traditional celebratory dance.
The Army Chief was seen matching steps with the troops, drawing cheers and applause, as the soldiers celebrated in high spirits.
The soldiers danced to “Badlu Ram Ka Badan,” a popular regimental folk-style song often played during informal celebrations.
Known for its energetic rhythm and earthy lyrics, the song has long been associated with camaraderie and shared joy among soldiers, especially in the eastern and northeastern regiments.
Its upbeat tempo makes it a favourite during unit gatherings and victory celebrations, symbolising bonding beyond rank.
The moment came a day after General Dwivedi felicitated Indian Army marching contingents, mounted units and military and pipe bands for their outstanding performances at the Republic Day 2026 Parade and the Beating Retreat Ceremony.
The event recognised the precision, discipline and musical excellence displayed during the national celebrations.
During the ceremony, results of the Popular Choice category, based on an online poll conducted through the MyGov portal, were also announced.
The Assam Regiment was voted the Best Marching Contingent among the three armed services, while the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) topped the category among CAPFs and auxiliary forces.
