A Bengaluru-bound Air India flight from New Delhi was diverted to Bhopal on Monday after a mid-air technical snag.
Flight AI 2487, which took off from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport 6:31 pm for Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, experienced a mid-air technical glitch, forcing the flight to divert to Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport, news agency PTI reported.
The aircraft, Airbus 320neo, landed safely, and all 172 passengers and crew members were reported to be safe, according to the news agency.
“Following standard safety procedures, a full emergency was declared at 1933 IST. A few minutes later, the crew confirmed that the warning had cleared and all aircraft systems were normal. The flight landed safely at 2000 IST with 172 persons on board. All operations are normal,” an airport official told the news agency.
Earlier today, an Air India flight operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, due to a technical glitch. As per an official statement by the airlines, the aircraft landed safely at Ulaanbaatar and is undergoing the necessary checks.
“AI174 of 02 November, operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after the flight crew suspected a technical issue en route. The aircraft landed safely at Ulaanbaatar and is undergoing the necessary checks,” Air India’s statement read.
In another incident reported on Sunday, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Kochi was delayed by more than three hours after the aircraft developed a technical snag.
