Bigg Boss Tamil 8 was perhaps the most predictable in the Tamil reality show’s history. From the first week, it was obvious that Muthukumaran would bag the title.

Popular YouTube anchor and orator Muthukumaran emerged as the title winner of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8. Known for his eloquence and rising fame through the Tamil reality show Tamil Pechu Engal Moochu, Muthukumaran stood out among the finalists Soundarya, Jacquline, Raanav, Vishal and Pavithra Janani to claim the top spot.
After his win, an emotional Muthukumaran dedicated his victory to all the contestants, technicians, and most importantly, his mother. “This award belongs to all the 24 contestants. It also belongs to one lady who has lived without losing self-respect… that woman is my mother. All she taught me was hard work. Just know that if Muthukumaran can, you all can. All it takes is hard work,” he said.
Soundarya was declared the runner-up of the season. Despite being one of the most controversial contestants, often criticized for not contributing significantly to the house, her unique personality and fan support propelled her to the final stage. Vishal rounded out the top three finalists.
This season marked Vijay Sethupathi’s debut as the host of Bigg Boss Tamil, succeeding Kamal Haasan, who had helmed the show for the past seven seasons. Bala, the head of Vijay Television, revealed Sethupathi’s initial reluctance to join the show. “When we first met him, he said, ‘I don’t like the show, and I don’t watch Bigg Boss.’ By Week 1, he was onboard. After Week 4, he was giving us suggestions on how to improve the show and interview contestants for Season 10. The only reason we had so much fun was Vijay Sethupathi,” Bala shared.
Bala confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi will return as the host for the next season, to which Sethupathi responded emotionally, “I didn’t expect you to reveal that.” He expressed gratitude towards Kamal Haasan, acknowledging his contributions to the show. “One can be lauded for building the tenth floor, but credit should go to the person who built the first nine floors. That credit belongs to Kamal Sir. I am happy to go down the path laid down by him,” Sethupathi said.
The season’s success, coupled with Sethupathi’s dynamic hosting, has raised anticipation for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9. Fans eagerly await what’s next in store for the reality show.
