Blackpink superstar Lisa is set to lead a new Netflix rom-com, reuniting with David Bernad and writer Katie Silberman for a project inspired by “Notting Hill.”

Lisa expands her acting portfolio with a Netflix leading role.
The transition from global K-pop royalty to Hollywood leading lady is moving at lightning speed for Blackpink’s Lisa. Following her highly anticipated acting debut in the third season of The White Lotus, the Thai rapper, dancer, and singer is set to headline a brand-new romantic comedy for Netflix. The project marks a high-profile reunion with The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad and taps into the creative mind behind some of the streamer’s most beloved modern comedies.
From Thailand to Hollywood: A “Notting Hill” Connection
The seeds for this new venture were reportedly sown on the set of The White Lotus in Thailand. Sources indicate that Lisa and David Bernad developed the premise after discovering a mutual affection for the 1999 classic Notting Hill. While the specific logline is currently being kept under wraps, the influence of the Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant masterpiece suggests a story filled with charm, wit, and perhaps the intersection of global fame and everyday life.
To bring this vision to the screen, the team recruited Katie Silberman, the acclaimed writer responsible for the Netflix hit Set It Up and the critically adored Booksmart. Silberman, who maintains an exclusive multi-year partnership with Netflix, will write and produce the film. Bernad will produce under his Middle Child Productions banner, while Lisa herself will step into the role of executive producer alongside Alice Kang.
This announcement comes during a period of unprecedented professional expansion for Lisa. Aside from her work with Blackpink, her solo career reached new heights last February with the release of her debut solo album, Alter Ego, which dominated the Billboard charts. On the film front, she is also deep in preparation for her first major film role in TYGO, an expansion of Netflix’s high-octane Extraction universe.
Lisa’s foray into acting began with her role as Mook in The White Lotus, where she played a wellness professional. That experience clearly paved the way for deeper industry connections. By teaming up with Bernad—an Emmy and Golden Globe-winning producer currently prepping the fourth season of The White Lotus—Lisa is positioning herself as a formidable force in the Western film industry. With Silberman’s track record for revitalizing the romantic comedy genre, this untitled project is already positioned as a major tentpole for Netflix’s upcoming slate.
