Janhvi Kapoor stuns in Dior’s 1957 black haute couture dress at Cannes 2025.
Janhvi Kapoor nailed her third major fashion moment at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival with a look that channeled vintage Hollywood glamour. After impressing earlier in Anamika Khanna and Tarun Tahiliani outfits, the Bollywood star stepped out in a classic black slub silk dress by Christian Dior, originally designed in 1957, paired with long velvet gloves that transported us to a bygone era.
Janhvi wore the dramatic ensemble for a press event of Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, which received a thunderous nine-minute standing ovation at the Debussy Theatre. The screening was attended by Ghaywan, Janhvi, Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, Karan Johar, and the Dharma Productions team including Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Janhvi’s look embodied the elegance of old Hollywood. “Today in Cannes with @janhvikapoor for press in Christian Dior 1957 haute couture black slub silk dress. Viva la,” wrote Rhea while sharing the look online.
The vintage Dior dress featured a gently curved neckline and sleeveless, body-hugging silhouette that offered drama. A silver brooch placed at the centre of the chest added just the right amount of sparkle. But what elevated the look were the velvet gloves.
To maintain focus on the outfit, Janhvi opted for minimal yet striking accessories. She wore only diamond stud earrings that mirrored the sparkle of the brooch. Her hair was styled into a clean, sleek bun, with no flyaways in sight.
The makeup perfectly complemented the ensemble. Her eyes were accentuated with a dramatic winged eyeliner and soft eyeshadow, paired with long curled lashes. A touch of radiant blush lit up her cheeks, while nude lipstick completed the vintage effect.
Meanwhile, Homebound, which premiered to a packed house, left its audience moved, and the atmosphere post-screening was electric. A video shared by Dharma Productions on X captured the heartwarming reaction from the crowd. Karan Johar, who has backed the film, was seen hugging director Neeraj Ghaywan, who broke down in his arms. The filmmaker was visibly emotional, overwhelmed by the love Homebound had received. Janhvi and Ishaan Khatter also appeared teary-eyed, soaking in the moment alongside co-star Vishal Jethwa and the rest of the crew.
