Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, is competing in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section this year.

Shikhar Pahariya and Janhvi Kapoor have been together for several years.

As Janhvi Kapoor gears up for the world premiere of her film Homebound at the Cannes Film Festival, her boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya was spotted in the French Riviera with her sister Khushi Kapoor, Karan Johar and Orhan Awatramani. The film, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, is competing in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section this year.

Photos shared on social media captured the close-knit group enjoying their time before the film’s big moment. In a set of pictures going viral, Shikhar was seen posing casually with Khushi, Karan Johar, and Orhan Awatramani aka Orry. The group sported easygoing looks, soaking in the pre-premiere buzz at Cannes.

Karan Johar shared glimpses from his Day 1 at the festival, looking dapper in a checkered peach three-piece suit teamed with a black shirt. “Yes we Cannes! Day 1,” he captioned the post. Meanwhile, Ishaan Khatter dropped his own set of photos from Cannes with the caption: “Bonjour festival de Cannes 🤍.”

Homebound, a deeply personal tale of two childhood friends set in a North Indian village, has been co-produced by Dharma Productions, Apoorva Mehta, and Adar Poonawalla. The film also stars Vishal Jethwa alongside Janhvi and Ishaan.

Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese is on board as the executive producer. Sharing what drew him to the project, he said in a statement: “So, when Mélita Toscan du Plantier sent me the project of his second film, I was curious. I loved the story, the culture and was willing to help. Neeraj has made a beautifully crafted film that’s a significant contribution to Indian cinema. I am glad the movie is an official selection at Un Certain Regard in Cannes this year.”

Karan Johar also spoke about the film’s significance in an interview with Galatta Plus, saying, “All those cinema intellectuals will go to town and talk about All We Imagine As Light—I loved that film and have a lot of regard for Payal Kapadia, please don’t judge me wrong. They will gush about it, but not one person will write that a mainstream studio has an officially selected film (Homebound) at Cannes.”
