On May 16, the first round of trial in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s sex trafficking, racketeering, and abuse case ended with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s testimony, which went on for four days. The session closed with Cassie sobbing at the stand, declaring, “I don’t hate Diddy now,” during her cross-examination. After she wrapped up, her husband, Alex Fine, made a powerful statement in her support. The singer is currently pregnant with her third child. The 38-year-old has levelled severe accusations against her ex-boyfriend, including forcing her into sexual acts, controlling her life, giving her drugs, and alleged prostitution.
Cassie’s husband, Alex Fine, speaks to the court
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s trial taking place at NYC court saw his sons and mother attend the session, whereas Cassie was accompanied by her husband, Alex Fine, who is a fitness instructor. Fine’s statement was read aloud in court by Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor. “Over the past five days, the world has gotten to witness the strength and bravery of my wife freeing herself of her past,” he said, according to Page Six. Cassie ended her 11-year relationship with Diddy in 2019 and later got married to Fine. The couple share two kids together.
Fine, who has been a source of strength to her from the very start of the case, continued by describing what it was like sitting in court, watching his wife face someone who had hurt her deeply: “I have felt so many things sitting there. I have felt tremendous pride and overwhelming love for Cass. I have felt profound anger that she has been subjected to sitting in front of a person who tried to break her.” Addressing Combs directly in court, who has pleaded not guilty, with his legal team hinting towards a bipolar disorder-type condition for their client, Cassie’s husband said, “You did not. You did not break her spirit, nor her smile that lights up every room. You did not break the soul of a mother who gives the best hugs and plays the silliest games with our little girls. You did not break the woman who has made me a better man.” He concluded with, “Cassie saved Cassie. She alone broke free from abuse, coercion, violence and threats. She did the work of fighting the demons that only a demon himself could have done to her.”

Cassie says, ‘I don’t hate Diddy’ now
After four days of grueling sessions over a CNN footage showing Combs dragging, beating, and abusing Cassie, Combs’ lawyer, Anna Estevao, tried to challenge her timeline, including her relationships with other celebrities mentioned while she was still ‘intimate’ with the rapper. The singer reportedly testified that Combs raped her in August 2018. But in her 2023 lawsuit, she said it happened in September 2018. She also faced questions regarding her alleged text exchanges with the rapper, where she allegedly wrote about “enjoying the freak off parties.” Cassie revealed that Fine eventually found out she had still been sleeping with Combs around the time of the alleged rape, and though he was frustrated and felt cheated, he never left her side. On the other hand, in her concluding statement, Diddy’s lawyer asked her directly: “Do you hate him?” Cassie responded calmly: “I don’t hate him.” When pressed, “Do you still have love for him?” “I have love for the past and what it was.”
Following Cassie, another woman, Dawn Richard, who used to be in Diddy’s girl group Danity Kane, is expected to take the stand next week.
