CSK Race to 72 in Powerplay; KKR Strike Twice to Stall Momentum


After a solid start from CSK, they lost two wickets in the IPL 2026 games against the Kolkata Knight Riders, played on April 14 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

They lost the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre in the powerplay to reduce CSK’s moment.

Chennai Super Kings are currently in 9th position, while KKR are at the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table.

Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have met on 32 occasions, where CSK has 20 wins, while KKR has 11 wins, and one game ended with no result.

After being invited to bat first, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings while Vaibhav Arora opened the bowling attack. With a great start from Sanju Samson, Gaikwad lost his wicket to Anukul Roy for 7 Runs.

Ayush Mhatre who came to bat at no.3 went on to slam 17-ball 38 runs before being dismissed by Vaibhav Arora. His knock included 6 fours and 2 sixes. By the end of powerplay, CSK scored 72 runs for two wickets.

Sanju Samson and Dewald Brevis are aiming to forge a partnership aiming for posting a mammoth total against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai.

The duo forged a 39-run partnership before Kartik Tyagi bowled out Sanju Samson for 48 runs.
