Esha Singh wins second consecutive World Cup gold


Indian star shooter Esha Singh claimed her second consecutive World Cup Gold medal with the women’s 25m pistol title at Hangzhou, China, on Monday.

The world record holder continued her impressive form this year, winning her third medal on the circuit, following a gold and silver from the Munich World Cup.

Meanwhile, Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker also clinched her first Individual medal of the year, with a bronze in the same event behind Esha and Yueyue Zhang of China.

In qualification, Manu Bhaker finished 5th, Esha Singh placed 7th, while experienced shooter Rahi Sarnobat missed the final, finishing 11th.

This was India’s third medal in the women’s pistol events, following Sainyam’s silver in the 10m air pistol on Friday. Meanwhile, no medals yet in rifle or shotgun events.

In other shooting events, Indian trap shooter Bhowneesh Mendiratta qualified for the final after finishing 7th (excluding RPO) with 122/125 hits.

In the women’s trap, Kirti Gupta (115) and Pragati Dubey (113) finished 21st and 29th, respectively and failed to reach the final.
