Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt’s impressive knock during the 142-run chase against UP Warriorz secured an 8-wicket victory for Mumbai on February 26 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Both forged a 133-run partnership for the second wicket before Sophie Ecclestone sent off Matthews for 59 runs.

Nat Sciver Brunt smashed her 6th WPL in their run chase and went on to score 75* runs in the match leading to a comfortable victory.

She went on to score her fifty off 29 deliveries which included 8 fours. She led the side to march to victory during the WPL 2025 match against UP Warriorz.

Playing 22 matches, she scored 683 runs at an average of 42.68 at a strike rate of 136.60. In the season, she slammed three fifties out of four matches performing consistently for the side.

Batting first Kiran Navgire and Grace Harris opened for the side where the former was dismissed cheaply for 1 run.

However, UP Warriorz finished the powerplay strongly with 62 runs after Grace Harris and Vrinda Dinesh forged a partnership for the second wicket.

However, Amelia Kerr bagged the wicket for 45 runs in the 10th over to get a breakthrough for the side. Sanskriti dismissed Vrinda for 33 runs and Tahlia McGrath for a run.

Sanskriti Gupta picked the wickets of Vrinda Dinesh and Tahlia McGrath for 33 and 1 run. However Shweta Sehrawat and Uma Chetry made some contributions with 19 and 13 runs helping the side reach the total.

In the purusuit of chasing 142 runs, Mumbai scored only 33 runs in powerplay and lost the wicket of Yastika Bhatia for a duck.

However, the stunning knocks from Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt did the job at the end. Nat Sciver-Brunt was named as the Player of the Match.

Speaking at the post match presentation, the 32 year old all-rounder said, “Yeah, I guess so (has she hit a purple patch?). Enjoying my batting at the moment. Feel good of myself. We always talk about the key players.”
