Hrithik Roshan
Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji’s movie Bunty Aur Babli that released in the year 2005 was a blockbuster hit. The movie also starred Amitabh Bachchan and had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a special song. But did you know that Abhishek Bachchan wasn’t the first choice for the film. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Shaad Ali revealed that Hrithik Roshan was to be the male lead in the film. However, he rejected the role as he wasn’t comfortable to enter small-town space. But he had liked the script and in fact, suggested the climax twist of the film.
Shah Rukh Khan
Like Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan also once rejected a big film that turned out to be a major hit. Shah Rukh Khan was the first choice for Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. On Koffee With Karan, he once said, ‘I would have been the fourth idiot if I had done 3 Idiots. I think I’m the fourth idiot for passing on the film.’
Vicky Kaushal
Did you know that Vicky Kaushal was the first choice for Amar Kaushik’s blockbuster horror comedy – Stree? Yes, the actor regrets rejecting the film that later starred Rajkummar Rao as the male lead. During his appearance on Vogue BFFs, Vicky revealed that he regrets rejecting Stree as he was busy with Manmarziyaan.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela brought immense fame to Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. However, not many know that the film was first offered to Kareena Kapoor Khan. Reportedly, she rejected the role and Deepika Padukone was brought on board. As per reports, Kareena also rejected hit films like Queen, Black, Fashion and others.
Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut has rejected many films that turned out to be superhits. One of them is Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. She has reportedly even rejected movies like The Dirty Picture, Sanju and Rustom.
Shahid Kapoor
Reports suggest that Shahid Kapoor was the first choice to play the lead in Raanjhanaa. However, his loss turned out to be Dhanush’s gain. On Neha Dhupia’s show, he also revealed that he regrets rejecting Rang De Basanti as he was offered Karan Singhania’s role.
Ajay Devgn
Rahul Mehra played by Shah Rukh Khan in Darr is still an iconic character. However, he wasn’t the initial choice for the film. Reportedly, Ajay Devgn was offered the role. But he rejected the film and it fell in Shah Rukh Khan’s kitty.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan too has had some missed opportunities. Reportedly, he was the first choice was Shah Rukh Khan’s film Chak De! India. In one of the old interviews, Salman Khan said, ‘When I was offered Chak De! India, my image was totally different, as I was doing Partner and all those kinds of films. My only thing in Chak De! India was that my fans would expect me to wear a wig and win the match for India, which would not work for the film. That was not my genre at that point in time.’
