Former Cricketer Yograj Singh has vowed to transform the Indian cricket team into an unbeaten team with the same players.
Gautam Gambhir has recently taken over from Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach and has enjoyed significant success already. Despite winning the Champions Trophy 2025, there are still doubts and speculations over Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future in the side.
Speaking on a recent podcast with the former Indian cricketer Taruwar Kohli on his podcast, Yograj said there is a need to protect Kohli and Rohit.
“If you make me the coach of the Indian team, I will use these same players to transform it into a side that will be unbeatable for ages.
Who will bring out their capabilities? Because people are always ready to throw them out of the team—drop Rohit Sharma or drop Kohli—but why? They are going through a rough patch and I want to tell my kids that I am with you,” added Yograj Singh.
“I’ll tell them let’s play Ranji Trophy, or I will make Rohit run 20 km. Nobody does that. These players are diamonds. You don’t throw them out. I will be like their father. I have never differentiated between Yuvraj and the others, not even Dhoni. But what is wrong is wrong,” Yograj Singh said.
Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are featuring in the ongoing IPL season for their respective franchises.
The Indian team came under scrutiny after their poor run of form in red-ball cricket, where they suffered a 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand before suffering a utter 1-3 defeat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia.
Despite winning a second consecutive ICC title in white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma-led India lost their chances in the WTC finals.
With Indian team under the radar, with the next big assignment being the tour of England, where they haven’t won a series since 2007.
According to some reports, it is revealed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be playing in the India A squad for the two four-day tour games against the England Lions which will be played as the preparations for the five-match test series against England.
