R. Madhavan reveals his expanded role in Dhurandhar 2, where his character trains Ranveer Singh’s Jaskirat in espionage, promising more action and screen presence.

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is ruling the box office already, and not even one week into the release of the film, everyone is already talking about its sequel. Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles, will explore the journey of Singh’s character, Jaskirat, becoming Hamza. With the makers already announcing the release date of the second part of the movie on March 19, 2026, R. Madhavan has shared details about the sequel.
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, R. Madhavan, while speaking about Aditya Dhar, called him a monk and said, “Through all the chaos of making a film so dense and intense, he would sit there for the anxieties to settle down. What a fine human being! After working with Aditya in Dhurandhar, I want to work with him again and again.”
Madhavan further continued and spoke about the film’s second part, saying, “My screen presence is limited in the first part. But in the second part, which will release in March, there is a lot of my character as he trains Ranveer’s character in skills of espionage warfare.”
“I started the year with Hisaab Barabar. I am ending the year with Dhurandhar, which is one of the most important films of my career. I’ve had the privilege of working with the best directors in the most creative and productive phase of their career: Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Aanand L. Rai, and now Aditya Dhar. I couldn’t have asked for more,” Madhavan said while speaking about the year 2025.

Dhurandhar had opened strongly with ₹28 crore on its first day and saw impressive growth over the weekend, rising 14.29 per cent on Saturday and 34.38 per cent on Sunday. The movie follows Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, who leads a high-stakes mission to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan. Ranveer Singh portrays a Punjabi youth recruited from prison and trained to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal underworld.
