Protesters in Srinagar condemned Ali Khamenei’s killing, blaming the US and Israel. Internet was cut, schools closed, and Omar Abdullah urged calm.

Several people took to the streets in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, raising slogans against the United States, Israel and their allies after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Many protesters gathered outside the office of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) in Srinagar. Demonstrators voiced their anger over Khamenei’s killing and demanded international attention to the issue.
Internet Suspended In Jammu and Kashmir
In the wake of the situation, the internet services in Srinagar were suspended as a precautionary measure.
The administration also announced that all schools and colleges in the city will remain closed for two days.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, appealed to people to maintain calm and avoid violence. He said the government is closely coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety and well-being of residents from the Union Territory, including students currently in Iran.
Thousands of people marched through different localities of Srinagar and nearby areas. Several groups later moved towards the city centre, Lal Chowk, where they continued protests and shouted slogans condemning the killing of the Iranian leader.
