IPL 2025 GT vs MI Playing 11; Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first

IPL 2025 GT vs MI Playing 11: Shubman Gill led Gujarat Titans is set to face Hardik Pandya led Mumbai Indians to play the 9th match in IPL 2025 on March 29 in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

GT had the worst numbers for middle-order batting in IPL 2024, and they are yet again top-heavy in IPL 2025. They seemed on course in a stiff chase against PBKS during the second-wicket partnership but couldn’t quite build on it thereafter.

There is a distinct contrast in how spinners have fared in first innings vs second in the last five IPL games in Ahmedabad.

In the previous game here, GT spinners returned 4 for 78 in 8 overs (ER: 9.75) vs PBKS, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Glenn Maxwell returned 1 for 60 in five overs (ER: 12) between them

In the GT vs MI clash at Ahmedabad, Mumbai Indians have won the toss and have opted to field first.

During the toss, MI captain Hardik Pandya said “We’ll bowl first. The simple reason is we don’t know how the pitch will play, plus the dew factor. Only last year we played on black soil, otherwise we have been playing on red soil. Last year, we had the game under wraps but couldn’t finish it.

The prep has been fantastic, the boys are excited and we back each other, be there for each other. Very happy stage. I come back, and the others we are keeping the options open. Always about playing good cricket, planning right and enjoying the game”.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill said “Batted first plenty of times here, so nothing changes for us. It is all about assessing the conditions and seeing what target we can set, and if we are chasing it is about how to get to that target.

Plenty of positives from the last game, we just got slow in the middle and that post us, but still we managed to score about 200 runs in 14 overs. We have got the same team, might see one change with the impact sub.

(On opening with Sai Sudharsan) We want to have a lefty – righty combination, and Jos has been playing at 3 for England, so nothing changes for him”.
