Actor Jeremy Renner, best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s films and shows, has been accused of harassment by Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou. She claimed that he sent her “unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images of himself” in DMs and WhatsApp. She also alleged that Jeremy threatened to contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a dispute between them.

The 54-year-old is now pushing back against the allegations. In a statement shared with Variety, Jeremy’s representative denied all the accusations made by the filmmaker. “The allegations being made are totally inaccurate and untrue,” the rep stated. The actor’s lawyer has not yet shared any comment on the matter.

Last week, the 37-year-old filmmaker shared the accusations through a series of Instagram posts. She used hashtags such as #Cancel and #CancelJeremyRenner. Notably, before the controversy unfolded, Jeremy and Yi Zhou were collaborating on multiple projects, including Chronicles of Disney, a documentary directed by Yi Zhou, and Stardust Future: Stars and Scars, an animated film featuring Jeremy as a voice actor.

In one post, Yi Zhou alleged that the actor pursued a romantic relationship with her. “After having calls and text discussions, he allured me and sold me he’s looking for a relation and of course seduced/flatted that he was a Hollywood star fantasizing and loving me so much I believed in him / the power of love and embarked on the most difficult months,” she explained. Yi Zhou further claimed she had been targeted by online hate, saying, “I discovered to be destroyed by a set-up smear fans campaign against me and our 2 projects.”

In another post, she alleged, “When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me. Such behaviour is unacceptable and emblematic of the imbalance of power that continues to harm women in our industry.”

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Daily Mail, the filmmaker shared how things took a disturbing turn when she met Jeremy at his home in Nevada. She shared that during a discussion about their documentary, the actor consumed an entire bottle of wine and became “very, very angry,” allegedly yelling for nearly two hours. “I had to location share to my team, my parents, and Disney colleagues in case something happens to me, they know where I am.

I had to lock myself in a room to be safe, praying he would not come into the room at night, as he was really angry. I did not say a word, I was so scared for my life,” she recalled.
