The pacer Josh Hazlewood has reached a major milestone and become the ninth Australian bowler to reach 300 Test wickets after completing his 14th five-wicket haul during the first Test against Bangladesh.
Hazlewood reached the landmark in the 26th over after dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The 35-year-old has completed his fourth Test six-wicket haul and his first in nine years.
Josh Hazlewood has now joined the likes of Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, who have taken 300 Test wickets each, and they are the first Test bowlers in history to have four bowlers who have all played together and each taken at least 300 wickets.

Only Glenn McGrath, Pat Cummins, and Dennia Lillee have taken 300 test wickets for Australia at a lower bowling average than Hazlewood’s 24.02.
Speaking on his milestone, Hazlewood said, “You don’t really think about those sort of milestones when you’re playing. I guess it’s probably something you look back on at the end. But I guess just to see the other names there, and I’m playing with three of them, so yeah, it’s pretty cool.”
Speaking on Bangladesh’s resistance, “They hung in there tough. Yeah, it’s pretty hard work out there on that track. We probably stuck it out; we didn’t let the runs flow too quickly there at the end. It was just that Bangladesh hung in there nice and tough, and it was tough to get wickets out there, so it was a good effort,” Hazlewood said.
Australia are set to host Bangladesh on a two match test series which is part of the WTC 2025-27 cycle. Currently Australia are in the top of the WTC 2025-27 points table while Bangladesh are in the fourth spot.
Australia scored 198 runs in their first innings, and Bangladesh went on to score 426 runs by the end of their 1st innings after a century from Tanzid Hasan and impressive knocks from Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
