Nitanshi Goel is gearing up for Cannes 2025.
Phool goes to Cannes! From the heartlands of India to the glamorous streets of Cannes, Laapataa Ladies star Nitanshi Goel is living the dream. After charming audiences as Phool in the critically acclaimed Laapataa Ladies, the 17-year-old powerhouse is ready to make her dazzling debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.
Nitanshi will be representing global beauty giant L’Oréal Paris, who’ve been the festival’s official beauty partner for 28 years now.
Sharing her excitement about her Cannes debut, Nitanshi said, “I came into this industry with aspirations of making things happen for me. From the incredible journey of ‘Laapataa Ladies’ to now standing on the global stage at Cannes, I am getting closer to realizing them. I am that girl who is representing every Indian girl out there who dreams big and is ready to go and achieve them, come what may.”
The actress added, “Being able to represent those girls at a global stage is a moment of sheer happiness. By me being on the carpet, I wish to empower each female out there who is taking charge of their life, dreams, and career. It’s an absolute honour.”
India’s presence at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 is nothing short of spectacular, with a power-packed lineup of stars, storytellers, and cinematic gems making waves at the French Riviera. Alia Bhatt is all set to make her much-anticipated Cannes debut this year, walking the red carpet as a brand ambassador for global beauty giant L’Oréal Paris. She’ll be joining Cannes veteran Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who returns once again to represent the brand with her signature elegance.
Meanwhile, Payal Kapadia, who created history last year by winning the Grand Prix for All We Imagine As Light, is back at Cannes — but this time, as a jury member! The filmmaker will sit alongside global cinema greats on the main jury panel for the 78th edition, led by acclaimed French actress Juliette Binoche.
Cannes is also celebrating Indian cinema’s legacy with Sharmila Tagore, who will attend a special screening of Satyajit Ray’s Aranyer Din Ratri in its newly restored 4K glory. On the contemporary front, Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, has been selected for the prestigious Un Certain Regard section.
And in a proud moment for Indian storytelling, Anupam Kher’s directorial venture Tanvi The Great will have its world premiere at the Marché du Film.
