SS Rajamouli’s big-budget action-adventure film ‘Varanasi’, starring Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu, has been one of the most highly-anticipated films ever since it was officially announced. Fans have been eagerly waiting with bated breaths for any update about the film. Now, a video that is going viral on X (formerly Twitter) shows veteran choreographer Shankar sharing details about a foot-tapping dance number in Varanasi, featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.
Varanasi To Feature Latin-Style Dance Number?
An old interview with senior dance choreographer Shankar that is going viral on social media shows him talking about a dance song in SS Rajamouli’s film Varanasi, featuring Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu. In the interview, Shankar told Suman TV that Rajamouli had narrated the entire story to him for several hours, leaving him very impressed. He also shared that the film will feature a special song with Priyanka and Mahesh Babu, choreographed in Latin style, and it will include dancers flown in from the UK. He called it a unique dance number designed on a grand scale.
Meanwhile, last month, Priyanka Chopra offered fresh updates about Varanasi during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. During her conversation with Fallon, the actress spoke about the demanding shoot schedule. She said, “I haven’t done an Indian movie in almost like six or seven years. This movie is called Varanasi, and it is directed by SS Rajamouli, who is one of India’s most amazingly talented directors. It is going to be an adventure, I am very excited about it. April 2027!”
Mahesh Babu was recently spotted at the Hyderabad airport, and as per reports, he has returned after completing a rigorous filming schedule in Georgia. So far, the team of Varanasi has shot for the film in several locations including Hyderabad, Odisha and Kenya. Recently, Priyanka also hinted that the globe-trotting adventure may be heading to one of the most extreme locations on Earth- Antarctica!

SS Rajamouli’s upcoming action-adventure film ‘Varanasi’ stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. While Mahesh Babu plays Rudhra in the film, Priyanka will be seen as Mandakini, and Prithviraj as the antagonist Kumbha.
The makers unveiled the film’s title and an intriguing first-look teaser at the grand GlobeTrotter event in Hyderabad in November 2025. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on April 7, 2027, coinciding with the festival of Ugadi.
