Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described infiltration as a “major security threat” and said infiltrators must be identified and sent back, stressing that no country in the world accepts illegal entrants.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while attending the ceremony in which Nitin Nabin took over as BJP president. Modi said even powerful nations are investigating infiltrators within their borders and asserted that India cannot allow infiltrators to “loot the rights” of the country’s poor and youth.

PM Modi stated that infiltrators pose a serious threat to national security and mentioned the need for strict action against them. He said identifying infiltrators and sending them back to their country of origin is “extremely necessary”, adding that political parties that protect infiltrators for vote-bank politics must be exposed before the public.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also flagged what he termed “urban Naxalism” as another major challenge, warning that its influence is becoming international.

“Another major challenge is urban Naxalism. The scope of urban Naxalism is becoming international,” Modi said, alleging that individuals who speak positively about him or the government even occasionally are targeted and silenced.

“If they tweet something positive about Modi even once or twice a year, or say something positive on TV, or write something positive in a newspaper, some journalists humiliate them so much that they are hounded and made untouchable… This is the method of urban Naxalism,” the PM added.

Modi added that for years the BJP was isolated and treated as untouchable, but claimed the country is now recognising these tactics. “Urban Naxals are continuously working to harm India,” he said.
