South Korean actress Gong Min Jung is expecting her first child! On December 2, during a press conference for her upcoming K-drama Sorry Not Sorry, she surprised her fans with the unexpected announcement. The actress exchanged vows with her Marry My Husband co-star Jang Jae Ho in September, transforming their on-screen relationship into a real-life partnership. Now, the actor couple is taking another significant step in their journey together.
As per a report by Soompi, the Sorry Not Sorry cast and crew held a press conference in Seoul, which was attended by the show’s director, Min Ji Young, along with the lead actors, including Gong Min Jung.
At the conference, Gong Min Jung, who will be playing the role of a working mother, Choi Ha Na, in the upcoming K-drama, announced her pregnancy. She said, “Just like my character, I am currently pregnant. I am expecting to give birth soon. I have many things in common with the character Ha Na.”
The actress further revealed that her character in Sorry Not Sorry wasn’t supposed to be pregnant initially, but the production team changed the screenplay. Expressing her gratitude, Gong Min Jung added, “I am grateful that the character Ha Na in ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ came to me. Originally, the character was not supposed to be pregnant, but gratefully, the writer and production team changed the setting. I am thankful to be part of this project as I feel I can represent something as a mother-to-be.”
Gong Min Jung married Jang Jae Ho in September. The two starred as a married couple in the hit K-drama Marry My Husband, which features Park Min Young and Na In Woo. The couple shared posts on Instagram, revealing that they had been friends even before they starred in the romantic drama.
Speaking of Sorry Not Sorry, the upcoming romantic comedy stars Jun So Min as Ji Song Yi, a newly married woman who gets dumped by her husband overnight. She struggles to make ends meet in a new city, working various part-time jobs and also having to pay off a home loan. Song Yi tries her best to fit in the new locality, even disguising herself as a married woman.
On the other hand, Gong Min Jung plays Song Yi’s estranged best friend. She is a working mother who enjoys the Miracle Morning at 5 am and always uses Excel to solve everything, including her pregnancy.
Sorry Not Sorry, consisting of 12 episodes, will premiere on December 5 at 9 PM KST on the Korean broadcasting channel KBS.
