Kishwar revealed that while working on the sets of a daily soap opera, she fell in love with her co-star Suyyash Rai, who was 8 years younger than her. The couple then decided to tie the knot in a marriage ceremony in 2016. Kishwar revealed that during the early days of her marriage, Suyyash’s mother was not supportive of their marriage. However, this strong opposition was not due to the differing religious backgrounds of the two actors but rather the 8-year age gap between Kishwar Merchant and Suyyash Rai.
“Religion was never a problem between them, as Suyyash’s sister also married a Muslim man,” said Kishwar in the interview. “Now that I’ve become a mother, I also understand her concern,” she added. Kishwar and Suyyash recently had a son in 2021, and they revealed that their son has been learning teachings from both his father’s and mother’s religions. The actress even took to social media and posted a pic of her child, Nirvair, wearing a Muslim cap and a rudraksha necklace.
Later, Kishwar revealed that over time, her mother-in-law accepted the marriage of the two and has accepted Kishwar as her daughter-in-law. She also revealed that now she shares a really deep and special relationship with Suyyash’s mother and his sister as well.
