MMA fighter Conor McGregor has run into trouble back home in Ireland after his comments on immigration at the White House press briefing room. “What is going on in Ireland is a travesty,” he said. “Our money is being spent on overseas issues that have nothing to do with the Irish people,” McGregor said.
McGregor met US President Conor McGregor on St Patrick’s Day. According to bbc.com, McGregor described the US President’s work ethic as ‘inspiring’.
Irish prime minister Micheal Martin, however, was critical of McGregor’s comments.
McGregor said that he was going to raise issues of ‘immigration’ with Trump.
“St Patrick’s Day around the world is a day rooted in community, humanity, friendship and fellowship. Conor McGregor’s remarks are wrong and do not reflect the spirit of St Patrick’s Day, or the views of the people of Ireland,” Martin said.
Ireland’s deputy prime minister Simon Harris said McGregor didn’t have the mandate to speak for the people of Ireland. “He doesn’t speak for Ireland. He doesn’t speak for the people of Ireland. He has no mandate to do such,” Harris said.
McGregor was also seen along with Elon Musk in the Oval office, bbc.com reported.

In 2024, a woman accused McGregor of raping her in a Dublin hotel. A jury ordered him to pay more than $266,892 after they found that he had assaulted him.
