Munawar Faruqui has been in the spotlight for a long time, especially after winning Bigg Boss, but this week he went viral for a very different reason. A phone number linked to him suddenly started spreading online, and fans thought his personal number had leaked. People rushed to call and message it, hoping to talk to Munawar directly.
But the big twist? The leak was not real at all.
It was actually a marketing stunt planned by Munawar along with Amazon and MX Player to promote the new season of his show First Copy. Anyone who messaged the number didn’t get a reply from Munawar. Instead, they received a playful video of him revealing that the number was fake and asking them to watch First Copy Season 2 for free.
What is the Show, First Copy about?
The show is set in Mumbai in the 1990s and follows the story of Arif, a man who becomes the city’s most wanted film pirate. Before streaming existed and piracy laws became strict, Arif made a fortune by illegally distributing Bollywood films. He soon became the guy everyone went to for early film copies earning him the nickname ‘First Copy.’
What’s new in Season 2?
Season 2 promises more drama, more risk, and a more personal journey for Arif. Speaking about the show, Munawar said: “Arif’s world is messy, emotional, and real, and that’s why I relate to him. This season is personal, not just for Arif, but for me too. It’s not just about power anymore, it’s about self-discovery.” He added that he’s grateful for all the love Season 1 received and hopes audiences connect even more with Season 2.
