Kartik Aaryan’s Captain India is getting bigger, with Parvathy Thiruvothu becoming the latest notable addition to the cast. The acclaimed actor has reportedly joined Shimit Amin’s aviation thriller in a pivotal role. While the makers have chosen to keep details of her character under wraps, sources suggest that she will be an integral part of the narrative.
The casting marks another interesting step in Parvathy’s Hindi film journey. Known for performances that have earned her acclaim across Malayalam cinema, she has built an impressive body of work with films such as Take Off, Koode, Uyare and Bangalore Days. She made her Hindi debut opposite the late Irrfan Khan in the 2017 romantic comedy Qarib Qarib Single, where her performance brought her to the attention of a wider audience.
She subsequently appeared in Pankaj Tripathi’s Kadak Singh and made a cameo in Bejoy Nambiar’s survival thriller Tu Yaa Main. Her upcoming projects also include Storm, Hrithik Roshan’s maiden web series production, which is set to premiere on Prime Video later this year.
According to reports, Captain India was one of the more interesting Hindi projects offered to Parvathy in recent times. Her decision to come on board adds another accomplished performer to a film that is already attracting attention for its unusual combination of scale, subject and talent.
Actor Manish Chaudhary has also reportedly joined the cast in a key role. Recently seen in Chand Mera Dil, Chaudhary is expected to bring further depth to the ensemble.
Shimit Amin returns with a story inspired by a real rescue mission
A major draw of Captain India is the return of Shimit Amin to feature filmmaking. The director has been away from the director’s chair for more than a decade and a half, following a remarkable run that included Ab Tak Chhappan, Chak De! India and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. The three films, released between 2004 and 2009, established Amin as a filmmaker with a distinctive ability to balance strong characters with compelling mainstream storytelling.
Captain India is inspired by one of India’s major humanitarian rescue operations and follows a pilot who plays a crucial role in bringing civilians to safety from a war-torn country. Kartik Aaryan will reportedly portray the pilot at the centre of the high-risk operation.
The film is being produced by Harman Baweja’s Baweja Studios and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. Kartik is currently committed to Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama, which he is expected to wrap by the first week of September before moving on to Captain India.
For Kartik, the film represents another move towards roles that demand a more serious dramatic register, while Amin’s return gives the project an added layer of curiosity. The addition of Parvathy, meanwhile, suggests that the film will place as much emphasis on its characters as it does on the scale of its aviation sequences.

With a real-life humanitarian operation providing the backdrop, Captain India has the potential to combine the spectacle of an aviation thriller with the emotional stakes of a story about ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances. Amin’s return, Kartik’s central role and an ensemble that now includes Parvathy and Manish Chaudhary make the film one of the more intriguing Hindi projects currently taking shape.
