The entire music community, and especially the people of Assam, were shocked to hear about the passing of singer Zubeen Garg in September. Ever since then, tributes have been pouring in from all over the world, including other singers and artists. The latest to join that list was pop-country singer Post Malone, who surprised everyone by giving a shoutout to the late singer while performing in Guwahati.

While their worlds never collided during Zubeen’s long and prolific career, Malone’s tribute proves how far and wide Zubeen’s impact was. While performing, Malone stopped the tracks and said, “To be in the home of the great legendary Zubeen tonight, ladies and gentlemen… I just hope everyone’s having an amazing day and an amazing night. My name is Austin Richard Post, and I’ve come to play some street songs.”

Fans reacted in hordes to the now viral video and expressed their utter surprise at the heartwarming gesture. One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Post Malone came, lit up the stage, honoured Zubeen Garg in a way that touched every heart, thrilled the audience and gracefully opened fresh possibilities for Assam.” Fans also flooded the comments section of Malone’s Instagram and left comments like, “Joy Zubeen Da.”
Singer Sonu Nigam is also gearing up to give a heartfelt tribute to Zubeen during his concert in the capital of Assam. He will be kicking off his ‘Deewana Tera’ tour in Guwahati, which will also be his first solo concert in the city. His last ever performance in the city was actually when he shared the stage with Zubeen himself.
Zubeen passed away on September 19, while he was in Singapore for the North East India Music Festival. His death is still being investigated, and 7 arrests have been made in the case so far.
